Exhibition “Materiality” nano and bio-materials for sustainable development in Umbria
Vitality UniPG
Thanks to the commitment of Alessio Stollo, city councilor and employee of the University of Perugia, we were able to present at L’OFFICINA here in Monteleone, a traveling scientific exhibition that has already been seen in Perugia, Nocera Umbra, Gualdo Tadino, and Spoleto.
The exhibition, curated by Professor Giovanni Carlotti and involving over a hundred professors and researchers from the University of Perugia, is part of the project “VITALITY Ecosystem of Innovation, Digitalization, and Sustainability for the Diffused Economy in Central Italy,” funded by the PNRR.
The initiative aimed to present the results of research conducted as part of the VITALITY project, with a focus on nanostructured materials and devices, as well as biological and biocompatible materials, using large backlit panels and interactive monitors.
The exhibition, held at our premises at Via San Lorenzo n. 22, was open to schools from November 3rd to 14th, Monday to Friday, by reservation: students have had access to numerous laboratory activities, differentiated between the different school levels and grades, and it was possible to choose between two themes:
Biomaterials and Bioplastics: A Sustainable Solution?
– Understand what biomaterials and bioplastics
– Explore their origins, how they work, and their advantages over conventional materials
– Promote environmental awareness and sustainability
Discovering Nanotechnology
– Understand the concept of the nanometer and the importance of nanotechnology.
– Discover examples of nanotechnology found in nature.
– Observe and experiment with practical applications of nanotechnology.
A final public event was held on Sunday, November 16th at 5:00 PM, opening the exhibition to the public. This event included a science education show as well, “Magica Quantistica,” “Quantum Magic”, a show of illusionism and science suitable for children aged 11 and up, and adults.
A unique and valuable opportunity for our region to host an event dedicated to explaining the modern frontiers of scientific research using simple language and engaging experiences.
